World reknowned glass artist and teacher Loren Stump comes to beautiful Traverse City to offer his 3-DAY MURRINI lampworking class plus coldworking techniques. Fee $625.

Class Description

Loren Stump's 3-DAY MURRINI at Rebecca's Studio begins January 8, 2007.

Your work in this class will result in a Franchini-style shaded image and your signature cane. You will start with color mixing and blending which will be used to make shaded colors. Image details will by built in the flame and then pulled down to a smaller size for component parts to construct the final image. In a like manner, letter canes will be assembled to create signature canes. Murrini cold working techniques include sawing and polishing Murrini chips.

Classes will begin each day at 10:00 a.m. and likely go into the wee hours even on the last night. Although the learning process is intense, the classroom atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant. Loren is a very patient and well-prepared teacher. You will have plenty of time for hands-on learning using tools and techniques he developed. People who take his classes go home tired, but happy.

Requirements

All classes involve advanced techniques although students with minimal experience are welcome and will benefit from the class.

Bring your own didymium glasses and a notebook. All class materials and tools will be provided but you are welcome to bring your favorites.

Food and lodging are not included but Traverse City is a year-round tourist destination with a wide range of fine lodging and dining options. The local Traverse City airport (TVC) offers connecting flights to Detroit, Chicago, and Minneapolis.
