Fire & Ice. What a perfect metaphor for lampwork beads especially at this transitional time of year. This fun annual show has over 40 artists featuring lampwork, stone, fused glass, ceramic, polymer, PMC silver, fiber and more. See you there! For more info please call (231) 392-2439.
Lots of hands-on time in this class. Elaine guided students to make silver-soldered
jump-rings, earings, and other pieces. Calm, patient, resourceful, and quick to
smile, Elaine generously shared her wealth of metal-working knowledge. She is
a great teacher. Thank you Elaine!
Cher, the alchemist. How fitting that just before Halloween, she teaches us her
secret recipes for beautiful fused glass. With an encyclopedic knowledge from years of
study, careful observation, and an artist's sense of adventure, Cher combines
art and science to teach us how to brew our own potent potion of magical glass.
Thank you Cher!

She makes it look soooo easy. Just that tiny piece of silver and the
right amount of flame and whoosh! It's soldered. Susan really knows what she's
doing and made sure everyone got lots of hands-on practice with special tools, materials,
and flame. And of course lots of support and encouragement from her. Thank you Susan!

Balance, patience, joy. Kristina Logan, The Queen of Dots, makes symmetry transcendent.
Always focused but always with the light touch, Kristina channels her mystical relationship with glass
and flame in a generous, fun flow of technique and artistry. Lots of time for student practice and advice
from the teacher, too. Thank you Kristina!

Beyond the round bead indeed! Texture. Form. Color. Wow! Jennifer's mastery of the medium and strong
urge to explore leads to some of the most innovative glass bead designs around. Plus, she has developed
a new line of design ideas (to be introduced later this year) that she generously shared with students.
A great and patient teacher. Lots of demos, lots of torch time, lots of fun. Thank you Jennifer!

Despite an unexpected spring snowstorm and cancelled flights,
master lampwork artisan Michael Barley made it to Traverse City and led two back-to-back 2-day workshops.
Students watched and practiced Michael's deftly demonstrated and clearly explained techniques.
Gentle, kind, patient, this popular teacher guided students to new levels of lampwork creation. Thank you Michael!

Loren Stump's recent 3-Day Murrini Master Class at Rebecca's Studio was a great success. His skill, knowledge, and artistry are in a category that few people will ever reach. Plus he's a great teacher and genuinely nice guy. He was so generous showing us his techniques and processes. He really holds nothing back. Thank you Loren! We will all have a lot to practice and think about for quite a while.

Now Amanda and Steve have gone back to Sri Lanka and I have been working on the schedule for the next flyer. Check out the Class Schedule.
The next show is with the Rock and Mineral Club at the Heritage Center. That is the 'Old Library' on Sixth Street for those of us who have lived in TC for a long time! We will have many demo's. Stone cutting and Lampwork for sure and lots for the kids to see.
The Art Works Alliance is planning a studio crawl for October 21. If you are an artist with a studio, there is still time to be included. Contact me.
We met some awesome people at the Twisted Fish Gallery in Elk Rapids while doing lampwork demos. It was hot and sticky but the torch made the time fly for me.
Today I am planning ahead: 5-week classes through the Traverse Art Center, art shows, Studio Open House/Demo/Sale here on August 26.
Well, we are back from an amazing Bead and Button conference and have been busy in the studio. I have been teaching beginning silver clay and lampwork. My daughter is helping me get ready for an art show/demo at the Twisted Fish Gallery in Elk Rapids. I sure hope the weather is good that weekend because I am hauling the lampwork torch and kiln for the demo on July 15th and 16th...
My sister and I are off this week to the annual Bead & Button Conference. I'm taking a class to learn about enameling on silver clay. See you when I get back.
It has long been my dream to have a studio where I could not only work on my own art but also share it with others. Rebecca's Studio is the realization of that dream. This is a place to create, to learn, to inspire and be inspired. It's a place to exchange ideas. It's a place for a community of glass and fine metal artists. Join me in being part of it. Learn. Create. Share.
